COVID-19 and the latest restrictions have caused many challenges to our organisation and to the women and children for whom home is not safe. We are seeing the impact through the increased demand for our services. We are particularly concerned with the level of need once restrictions ease and women can access services. We need your help to be able to support more families.
If you want to make something more accessible, Yeah! Yoga created an incredibly fun and accessible challenge: each day participants would take a photo of one yoga pose. It got a ton of community engagement, brought attention to their work, and brought on individual fundraisers.
three walking challenges
- INDIVIDUAL – 76,000 steps per week (in honour of the 76 women and children that lost their lives to domestic violence in 2020).
- TEAM/FAMILY – 1.6 million steps in the month of October (to represent the 1.6 million women who have experienced physical or sexual violence by a current or previous partner since the age of 15).
- COMPANY – 2.2 million steps in October (to represent the 2.2 million women who have experienced emotional abuse by a current or previous partner since the age of 15).
Auctions yield high returns on investment for midsize organizations and are easier to plan. For small organizations, the return on investment is relatively good but requires more planning. For larger organizations planning auctions are difficult to plan with little return on investment.

Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization, active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies – without regard to politics, religion, or the ability to pay.
Direct Relief honors the generosity of its donors by following a firm policy of full transparency in all of its operations. The organization routinely reports on how donations are used and makes its financial documents (e.g., tax returns, annual reports, audits), fundraising practices, and compensation policies open to the public.
Venue
Since the Middle Ages, English monarchs had claimed to have the power to heal, or at least prevent, ‘the King’s Evil’. It’s not clear exactly what this nasty skin disorder was, possibly leprosy, or scrofula, which causes large growths on face and neck. It became known as ‘the Kings Evil’, alluding to the belief that sufferers would be cured by the touch of the monarch.
James I decided to use his fabulous new Banqueting House to stage this mystical ritual of monarchy, which was continued by Charles I. Revived by his son Charles II in 1661, the ritual became wildly popular.
